Well, there we were. Pregnant with our rainbow. And the plan that we had set in place with our doctor was about to begin. We told our family and friends to have as much support as possible and there were so many hugs and happy tears from everyone. This time was going to be different, everyone felt so strongly about it…
We knew my pregnancy was going to be high risk, and I wanted to be as stress free as possible… So we decided not to post about it on social media until our little babe was due to be born in March 2018. My first trimester was pretty normal, just your typical pregnancy symptoms, but we enjoyed every minute of it… My little belly was showing much earlier and we made sure to take plenty of pictures and document every step of this journey. My OBGYN referred us to the MFM specialist who saw us in the hospital during my pregnancy with Brooklyn and we were about to begin the next big steps.
12 weeks. We had our first appointment with the MFM specialist. Baby and cervix looked perfect and the ultrasound tech told us that we were probably having a… BOY! We would wait until the next visit to confirm and discussed the pregnancy with the high risk doctor and officially set a plan in place… I would have a preventative cerclage placed in the hospital for my incompetent cervix, be on bedrest after the procedure for the remainder of my pregnancy, have weekly intramuscular injections of progesterone and be seen weekly between my OBGYN and MFM specialist. We were willing to do whatever it took to have a successful pregnancy and get our baby here safely…
14 weeks. The ultrasound tech was right – IT’S A BOY! Our little Miles. And Marcus was right this time around too. He knew we were having a boy. He couldn’t wait to have his mini me, his son… And I couldn’t wait to have my little mama’s boy in my arms. Everyone was over the moon. My family was so excited to welcome a baby boy into a family filled with girls. And we were so in love with our little man already. Baby and cervix looked perfect that visit too and my cerclage placement was scheduled for the next week, so we tried to prepare as much as we could before I went on bedrest… Crib, dresser, and decorations for the nursery… We were ready…

15 weeks. October 4, 2017. Cerclage Day. I was admitted into the hospital and prepared for the procedure. IV, antibiotics, Indocin, spinal anesthesia, cerclage placement… Everything was successful. We were so relieved and I was discharged home that evening. And from that day on I remained on home bedrest until the day we were forced to live our worst nightmare over again…
My thoughts and prayers are with Marcus and you. Your children would be very proud of you both for giving them a voice. We don’t always understand the Why’s in Life, but we know God has a plan and a purpose. Praying y’all get your miracle baby soon and have a healthy and successful pregnancy.

My heart breaks for you both. This is an amazing, emotional blog and hope it helps you both to tell your babies story. I wish you both health and happiness in the years to come and that a child, even if he or she isn’t biological, is able to recieve the love you both have to give.
